This tournament has an inspiring history that began more than four decades ago, when Richard McDaniel set out to make a difference in the lives of the ball boys — young people who worked on the courts but had no opportunities for their future. What started as a programme to teach English soon grew into a transformative project offering educational scholarships and medical insurance, opening the way to a brighter future for these young people.
Since 2023 the PBO has proudly taken on responsibility for the event, ensuring the continuity of Mr McDaniel’s visionary work. Thanks to his generous donation and the trust he placed in our institution, we continue to build on that legacy, giving the beneficiaries the tools they need for their personal and professional development.
More than a tournament, this is an initiative that changes lives, creates opportunity and leaves a lasting mark on the community.
